Flower & Patio Show 2007

"English Walled Garden"

In keeping with the Show%u2019s theme %u201CGardens Gone Wild:  Great Vacation Destinations%u201D, Aspen%u2019s garden represents one of the most classical garden styles, English Walled Gardens, and most popular vacation destinations, England.  Much of America%u2019s architectural and landscape architectural styles can be traced back to English styles.

Aspen%u2019s garden uses a %u201Cgreen wall%u201D of Arborvitae and formal plantings to emulate traditional Walled Gardens.  Strong axial lines merge on a simple water feature as the focal point.  The use of clay pavers, cobblestones, and heavy wood structures further enforce the gardens true representation of one of England%u2019s finest and most famous garden styles.
