“An Aspen Retreat”
 The theme of Aspen Outdoor Designs’ 2006 Flower & Patio Show Garden is “An Aspen Retreat.” Consisting of densely planted masses of flowering shrubs, perennials, and evergreens, the garden gives one the sense of being in their own, private retreat. A water feature constructed of snapped limestone emulates the sound of a mountain stream. The sunken garden could easily be a private patio in one’s own backyard. A large shade structure offers mass and scale to the garden while creating an inviting outdoor seating area where one could relax after a busy day of work. Finally, the layering of plant material and use of boulders gives the garden an informal feel by softening the concrete pavers and man-made flagstone.
